Introduction: Who You Are Matters

I lived in the South Bay until I was 7 and then my family moved to Granada Hills in the San Fernando Valley which is where I've lived up until now.

I plan on working in finance or the real estate industry after I graduate this coming fall 2023. Reaching those goals will require a lot of work but I will start by finding an internship for this summer in a related field. I would like to stay in California, but I'm not too picky. I'll go wherever work takes me.

I have been told by many people that I am very similar to my mom. I think we have very similar personalities where we like to be spontaneous and love to keep busy, always talking to friends. I also try to be like my dad in the way that he always makes calm, logical decisions.

It's honestly difficult for me to think of how I am unlike my parents because I think I got a pretty even amount of both of them. I guess I could say my upbringing and values are very different than how my parents were raised with my mom being an immigrant and my dad growing up with a military dad.

I definitely have expectations for myself but I think more than half of them also align with my mom's expectations for me too.

Casey Patterson is a professional beach volleyball player who I really admire. He is so passionate about the sport and has created his own brand name that has really brought a sense of community within the beach volleyball world. He just retired this year at the age of 42!

For some reason, I've always really liked kangaroo rats. Maybe it's because they can survive without drinking any water and I, too, do not drink enough water. Why would I drink water when milk exists?

I have no idea what kind of tree it was, but at my old house there was a very ideal climbing tree. My sister and I would climb up the tree and hang out there for hours every day. That tree provided us with a lot of good times until one day my sister was hanging out on our favorite branch and it broke.

  1. Ive never heard of Kangaroo Rats but I looked them up after reading your blog and they're very cute. I read that they have pouches as well, I wonder if they carry milk in them.

  2. Oh no, what did you do after the branch broke? Did you still climb the tree? I also didn't know that there was such thing as a kangaroo rat. You should probably drink some more water though!!

  3. I relate to you when you said you have expectations of yourself but a lot of them come from your mom. I would say that a lot of the goals and expectations I have of myself come from my parents and their mindset that they instilled in me. They were both immigrants so they have a drive to work hard to succeed that they passed on to me.

  4. What high school did you go to? I also grew up in the San Fernando Valley and went to Chatsworth Highschool! As a child of immigrants, I also agree that my upbringing and values are different than what was taught to my parents, and for the most part, for the better.
